Behavior Assessment and Consultation
The process begins with a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA). An FBA is a research based process that enables us to determine why children engage in problem behavior. FBA enables us to develop effective interventions that reduce problem behavior because they address a child’s motivations for challenging behavior.
An FBA consists of interviews and observations in situations and environments in which the challenging behavior is most likely to occur. Interview and observational information will enable your consultant to determine the primary causes or functions of your child’s behavior.
The FBA concludes with a written assessment outlining the functions of the child’s challenging behavior and an intervention plan designed to address these behaviors. Your consultant will educate your family on how to implement the intervention plan. Progress will be closely monitored and evaluated by your consultant so you can see improvements in your child’s behavior.
